Samburu is also known for some rather unique wildlife not usually seen elsewhere. A visit to the reserve will bring you in sight of such memorable species as Grevy’s Zebra, the reticulated giraffe and the Beisa onyx. During Mara visit the Wildebeest Migration, is one of the “Seven New Wonders of the World” and also known as The World Cup of Wildlife. The migration has to cross the Mara River this is one of the highlights as the animals try and cross the Mara River alive.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from the airport with a briefing, thereafter you will be driven north past the equator to the northern frontier district. Continue to the semi-arid Samburu National reserve and check in to your campsite. There will be time to settle in before your safari adventure. Samburu is also known for some rather unique wildlife not usually seen elsewhere. A visit to the reserve will bring you the sight of such memorable species as Grevy’s Zebra, the reticulated giraffe, and the Beisa onyx. This is one of the few parks where you have a good chance of spotting African wild dogs. On game drives over the savannah, through acacia forest and riverine vegetation, there will be numerous opportunities to view kingfishers, marabous, vultures, guinea fowl, Somali ostrich, egret, falcon, and eagle. Set out for an afternoon game drive in the reserve. Return to the lodge before dark. Dinner and overnight: Samburu Game Lodge. Accommodation: Samburu Simba Lodge.

Set out for an early morning game drive in the Samburu reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours, temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Lion, Cheetah, and Leopard roam the vast grasslands in search of their next meal, it may be an unsuspecting impala or even a small one like the warthog whatever the players, the spectacle of nature unfolding is always awe-inspiring! 8.30 am. Back at the lodge, enjoy your sumptuous breakfast. 12.30 pm Lunch in the lodge then it's the time at leisure to relax by the riverside watching crocodiles 4.00 pm. Afternoon game drive. Return to the campsite before dark. 7.30 pm dinner and overnight: Samburu Elephant Lodge. Accommodation: Samburut Simba Lodge

After early breakfast depart for a morning game drive in the reserve, en-route to the gate. Drive a southerly direction to the equator for a brief stop. Here, the locals do a water demonstration to qualify for the position of the equator and for a small tip, you could be awarded an 'equator Certificate. After the brief stop, Drive to the Thompsons falls for a photo-stop then down into the great rift valley. As you ascend the eastern wall of the rift Valley, lush coffee and tea plantations reveal themselves and your driver-guides will give you a brief talk about coffee farming in Kenya. 15.30 pm: After checking in at your lodge, lunch Enroute 7.30 pm: Dinner in the Hotel. Check out thereafter and drive via Narok town to Maasai Mara National Reserve, the land of the Maasai tribe. In the morning after long and sound full sleep, tea or coffee, and cookies will be served at the campsite, Set out for a full day game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours, temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. Set out for FULL DAY game drive in the reserve. This is usually the most popular game viewing time. During the early hours, temperatures are low, thus providing a favorable atmosphere both for the game and the viewer. After breakfast, you will pack and time to check out of the hotel, head south, and back to Nairobi.
